INL Foundation's core objective is to enhance the mission of the INL. Our board of directors work with non-profit organizations, small businesses, government agencies, and private entities to turn any size of donation into real funded research.

Board Member

Linda Montgomery

Linda Montgomery has extensive non-profit experience including being named Idaho’s Individual Philanthropist of the year for 2022.  She retired from the Idaho National Laboratory in 2020.  

During her career, she was General Counsel at INL, Savannah River, and Rocky Flats. She was named Who’s Who in American Law, and the National Law Journal named her 50 national Trailblazers in Energy and Environmental Law.

Steve Hartenstein

Steve Hartenstein is serving as an INL Emeritus Professional after completing 36 years of national security research for the INL. His efforts and expertise influenced the development and implementation of unique intelligence technologies; creation and commercialization of scientific and engineering intellectual property; and initiation of proof-of-principle research for early career researchers.

He currently serves as an Idaho State University affiliate faculty member; a board member for the Holy Rosary School Endowment; and as free of charge tax return preparer for elderly, low-income, and/or disabled taxpayers through AARP Tax-Aide.

Sylvia Medina

Sylvia Medina founded the Snake River Animal Shelter and Love the Wild Foundation in Idaho Falls. Her background as an environmental engineer has molded her professional career, serving as CEO and owner of North Wind, a successful consulting and engineering construction company. While at North Wind, Sylvia worked closely with the INL in technology transfer of innovative groundwater clean-up processes and supported various contractors in Environmental Restoration and Waste Management projects. 

She sold her business to an Alaska Native Corporation and is now writing children’s books with the Green Kids Club, a company she founded to teach children and their parents the importance of environmental stewardship and the protection of animals and their habitats.
